Welcome!
The MJC Research and Planning Office works with the college community by providing information for decision making and assistance in research projects that improve institutional planning, processes, effectiveness.
Strategic Planning
Strategic planning is an important part of the integrated planning cycle at MJC. The MJC Research and Planning Office works with the Planning and Budget Committee by providing information (in the form of data and reports) to help identify goals and objectives for the college's strategic plan. The result is a process that integrates budget development into the planning cycle, increases participation and feedback in the planning and decision-making processes, and encourages institutional flexibility by ensuring that resource allocation is predicated on planning assumptions.
Institutional Effectiveness
Integrating institutional effectiveness assessment into the planning process provides another critical component of the planning cycle. The MJC Research and Planning Office, under the umbrella of institutional effectiveness, helps the Accreditation/Institutional Effectiveness Committee by linking internal data (including assessment of strategic plan goals and objectives, program review outcomes, and student learning outcomes) with data collected from the external environment (such as economic, demographic, and educational data) to report to the Planning and Budget Committee. The Planning and Budget Committee uses this information to propose future directions and budget allocations for the college.
