Online Information

MJC Online Logo

MJC is proud to offer a range of courses on the Internet. This way you can do your coursework in a sleek, accessible environment at times that are convenient to you. This makes it easy if you have a job during the day or difficulty getting to campus for a traditional classroom course.

Learning Online is...
Online courses are different from traditional classroom courses in format only. Online courses are just as challenging and interesting as other courses you might take at MJC. They carry full college credit that may be applied to MJC graduation. plus, you register for an Online course as you would for any MJC course.

Blackboard & MJC
We can offer instruction online thanks to Blackboard CE 6, a comprehensive web-based instruction system used by colleges and universities around the globe. Blackboard is a virtual campus where you submit your assignments, chat with instructors and peers, and, of course, learn.

How Online Learning Works
Course curriculum is posted on Blackboard CE 6 which is accessible through the MJC web site. Instructors post your assignments there at regular intervals. It's important to note that assignments are only posted for a limited time, which doesn't allow for "cramming" at the end of the semester.

Generally, you can "attend" class at your convenience during the day, as there is no particular class "time". You'll participate in class virtually with email, discussion groups, and/or Online Chat Rooms. You may interact with your instructor in that format. But don't worry, usually you can meet your instructor on campus during posted office hours, or over the telephone.

Hybrid Courses
A small number of courses each semester are considered "Hybrid" courses. These courses are structured as Internet/traditional courses, and require both classroom and online participation.
