Are you on a Waitlist?

Waitlist...#1....#2...#3....?

When a course section that you would like to enroll in is closed, you can place yourself on the wait list as long as you have satisfied prerequisites. However, please note that the system registration does not permit you to be enrolled in a class section and to also be on a waitlist of the same course that meets at a different time. Choose your selections carefully. When you are placed on a waitlist, it means that the course section you have chosen has reached its seat capacity, and that you are waiting to enroll in the event that any seats become available or the instructor allows for additional students. You are not guaranteed a seat in the class when you are on a waitlist. The process is not automatic. You are not charged for a class until you have added it using PiratesNet, or inperson registration. You are only permitted to be on one waitlist at a time in any given subject (i.e. one English 101 section, or one Math 90 section, etc). With the implementation of our new computer system, a student who is enrolled in a section will NOT be able to add their name to a wait list of the same course.

What to do if you're on a waitlist*

  1. You MUST attend the first class meeting.
  2. Tell the instructor that you are on the waitlist for the course and that you'd like an add card.
  3. If your request is granted, the instructor will give you an add card.
  4. Check to make sure that the instructor has signed it and included the access code (add code) and section number on the card. The system will not allow you to register without this information.
  5. Using PiratesNet or in-person registration, you may then add the course. PiratesNet will prompt you to provide the special access code (add code).
  6. Keep the add card for your records.

* If you are on a waitlist and decide not to add the class, drop yourself from the waitlist.

What to do if you're waitlisted for an online course

  1. On the first day of the semester, submit an Electronic Add Card at:
www.mjc.edu. Select "Register", select "Current Students", log-in, & select "E-Add Card Request (Online Courses)."
  2. When you've submitted the card, the instructor will e-mail you to notify you if you have been accepted into the course. Then follow #5 above to officially enroll in the class.
