No. Check-in begins when the lab opens. No early check-in.
Do I check in early for the Scheduled Tests?
Yes. About 5-10 minutes.
Do I need picture identification?
Picture identification is necessary for all testing. No ID? No testing. Picture identification includes: drivers License, DMV identification card, passport, credit card with picture, employee ID, Costco card, high school ID, high school year book, print-out from high school administrative office, military identification, permanent resident (green) card, and MJC student card.
What if I don't have any identification?
If you do not possess any identification, call us and we will work with you as much as possible. Keep in mind that sometimes the only solution is to either replace your ID or acquire new identification. (209) 575-7728.
Can I take the MJC assessment for another college?
Yes. It is best to check with the other college to determine if they will accept the test instruments we use. Accuplacer is used to administer the English, Reading, ATB and ESL tests here at MJC. The MDTP (Math Diagnostic Testing Project) assessment is use to administer our math assessment test. To assess for another college, a fee of $15.00 will be charged.
When can I retest?
English - If retesting, remember only ONE retest allowed after 60 or more days. You may not retest if you have already attended an English class--even if you withdrew or failed. (We check to verify this.) You cannot retest if you have already tested twice.
Math - You must wait a minimum 60 days to take the same math level again if you have not started a math class already. One retest allowed. You may, if your test report makes the recommendation, take a different level to place. But, there may be a better route for you. Check out the Math 47 half-unit class in the college catalog. The benefit is that you strengthen your weak areas, return to test and place into either a Math 70 or Math 90 class. It works!
Which tests do you use?
Accuplacer is the name of the English, reading ESL and ATB test. It is an untimed computerized test that gives you an English/Reading, ESL placement and ATB results immediately after the test.
Accuplacer's Reading test can be administered separately for students who have already satisfied an English assessment, an English class or who need it for one of the certificated programs offered at MJC or for graduation. It may be taken during any regularly scheduled English/Reading assessment. The MDTP (Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project) is use for assessing math skills.
Do I need to take an ATB test too?
TEST ONLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE!
Only test if you are told to by Financial Aid. Students testing on their own or as advised by someone else has caused us to experience. Please follow these directions to avoid issues.
An appointment is required. Call 209 575-7728.
What do I need to know about taking the ATB test?
• The ATB test is untimed. Make sure you thoroughly review the practice links to the right and read all the ATB test information before testing. Retests are limited!
• Try to test at least 10 days BEFORE you need your test scores for other MJC services.
Do you ever stop testing?
Assessment testing takes place throughout the year. We do not test on federal holidays (Columbus Day not included) or during the Christmas and Thanksgiving breaks. We generally do not test on weekends.
When do you post next month's schedule?
Each upcoming month's schedule will be posted between the 15th and 20th of the current month.

• Purchase a $1.00 parking permit at the gray and/or yellow dispensers by each parking lot if needed.
