Petition Process

A student may file a Petition with Modesto Junior College requesting consideration for academic
issues. This process is handled by the Petitions Committee.

The Committee

Function:  To review and act upon petitions from students as per Ed Code, Title V, College Catalog, and Board Policy. The committee acts on petition issues related to specific courses (i.e. grade correction, residency, course repeat due for recency). Issues that relate to missed deadlines and graduation requirements are not petitionable.

Location:  These petitions are filed and processed through the Office of Student Success located in the Library basement, room 20 (209) 575-6641.

Meets on:  The first Wednesday of each month during the academic year. (During registration, the committee makes every attempt to meet on a weekly basis)

Membership:  The committee is comprised of five faculty appointed by Academic Senate, one representative from Student Services, Instruction, and ASMJC. The committee is chaired by the Director of Student Success.
