Sticker states that you have paid your health fee. Health Services is not funded by general funds like other departments; we are funded by the health fee only.
9. How many times do I need to come into Health Services?
It is difficult to say because it depends on what services you will need. But the typical amount of visits is 4 or more.
10. How can I minimize the number of visits that I will make to Health Services?
By making an appointment and coming prepared. You will need to bring documented proof of immunizations/screenings to the Health Service office. Please refer to the pink worksheet for the requirements.
11. How long will my visit take in Health Services?
Visits can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes with the nurse. However, the wait time in general depends upon the number of students, current staffing or on a case by case basis. This is why it is important to make an appointment and be prepared.
12. Do I have to restart my Hep B series if I never completed it?
No, you do not. Check with the Health Services Nurse and she will instruct you.
13. What titers (blood work) will I need?
For most students, a titer for Varicella (Chicken-Pox) is needed. The measles, mumps, rubella and hepatitis B vaccines are needed; however, if you had these vaccines in the past, you may have titers to prove immunity.
14. Can I have blood work done at MJC and if not where can I get it done?
Titers may be obtained through Health Services or your medical provider.
15. Where can I get a physical if I don't have insurance?

16. What is a Health Clearance?
A Health Clearance is a list of requirements set up by an institution. In the health setting, hospitals or skilled nursing facilities are responsible to protect their patients as well as staff from acquiring diseases during their time spent in a hospital or a skilled nursing facility. Prior to being granted the privilege of entering the clinical setting, you must provide proof of taking every step available to you to be free of diseases that have immunizations or treatments available for everyone's protection.
17. How do I receive a Health Clearance?
You can begin the process of securing your health clearance immediately by obtaining written proof of any immunizations you may have received as a child up until now. Check the list of what is required for your particular program (pink sheet). Bring all your documents to Health Services along with proof of your status as a current student. Once you have completed all of this, you will receive a "Yellow Clearance Form", signed and stamped by the Health Service Nurse.
BE SURE AND KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING FOR YOUR OWN FILES.
