Options for Students Who Could Not Enroll in an MJC Summer Class

Sun GraphicIf you could not enroll in an MJC Summer class, these are your options:

1. Prepare yourself for Fall by:

a. Taking your assessment tests in math and English/reading or ESL

  • You must have a fully processed MJC admissions application.
  • No appointment necessary. Go to www.mjc.edu/assessment or call 575-6026 for testing lab hours.
  • Picture identification is required for ALL testing.
  • Accommodations for students with disabilities can be arranged at least 10 days prior to testing by calling the ADA Coordinator at 575-6267 or TTY 575-6863. Students in the Disability Services Program should call 575-6225 or TTY 575-6863.
  • Students may submit assessment results from another California Community College or college transcripts confirming successful completion of English, ESL, reading, and/or math courses.

b. Reserving your seat in StartSmart – a program for early Fall registration

  • After taking your assessment tests, make your StartSmart appointment at the Admissions counter OR call 575-6087 to reserve your seat.
  • StartSmart is for new or returning students who have not yet earned a college degree. If you have a college degree or if you will still be in high school in the fall, you are not eligible for StartSmart. Students not eligible for StartSmart should call 575-6789 to make an appointment for New Student Orientation. For more information, call the MJC Welcome Center or visit www.mjc.edu/startsmart
