Clubs
MJC is home to countless student-created clubs where you can get deeply involved in the activities and subjects that interest you. Pirate Athletics
MJC is a member of the Central Valley Conference for both men and women's sports. Men compete in baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, water polo, and wrestling. Women compete in basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, swimming, track and field, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and golf. As an athlete, you'll compete against CVC members and many non-league, two year colleges throughout the Central Valley. MJC Athletics are highly competitive and respected throughout the region and state.
Performing Arts
Throughout the year, countless productions and concerts are presented at MJC. From choir to drama, dance to jazz band, you can express yourself and your talents in so many ways. You can audition for productions or take classes for personal enrichment. Student Government
Associated Students of Modesto Junior College, or ASMJC, is the governing student body for MJC. You can effect change at MJC, or at local, state, and federal government levels. You'll receive free leadership training and get the opportunity to meet with key leaders about issues that concern you at MJC and beyond.
Communications & Publications
Did you know that MJC has its own radio station? MJC Pirates' Radio is broadcast daily on the Internet from the campus. You can have a chance to have your own radio program, and prepare for a career in broadcasting. Perhaps you want to pursue a career in television broadcasting. Television students get a chance to produce a ½-hour weekly television program! Film students can produce a variety of work to be aired online and on cable. MJC is also home to the Pirate's Log, the award-winning campus newspaper, distributed biweekly and edited and produced by journalism students.
Young Farmers
For those of you who wish to advance to agricultural careers, you'll want to investigate the Young Farmers organization. In Young Farmers, you'll get countless opportunities to learn a great deal about agriculture; the laws, the science, and the services available to agricultural industries. Plus you'll get a head start on orienting yourself with the industry in which you plan to work.
Honor Society
MJC is home to two honor societies, the Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma, Inc., the California Community College Honor Society, and the Beta Mu Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society with chapters in all 50 states. Both are open to academically eligible students. As an honor society member, you'll get the opportunity to regularly spend time with motivated students like you. You'll participate in countless activities and fund raisers and have access to honor society scholarships, and full membership - which is an impressive achievement for your resume. You'll also get opportunities to interact with the YCCD Board of Trustees about student-related issues.

Forensics
With a proud tradition of state champions, Modesto Junior College competes with other colleges and universities in forensics. You can participate in parliamentary debate and assorted speech events in state, national and international arenas.
