Kids Beginning Sewing Ages 8-12
Do you want to learn how to sew? Beginning and returning students welcome. Learn basic sewing skills, including the operation of a sewing machine. You will construct a double drawstring bag, belt and other small projects. Returning students will do a quick review and then new project such as skirt, pajama bottoms or something of your choosing. $25 material fee paid to instructor.

Act it Out - Ages 5-7
Is your child a “ham” or maybe a bit bashful? Either way they will become “Little Starz” as they learn how to get into character by using facial expressions and tongue twisters. Become a Star - Ages 8-11
Do you ever daydream about being an actor or actress? Parents, would you like to find an outlet for all that drama your pre-teen displays? Then sign your child up for this acting workshop! Kids will learn how to get into character by doing improvisation games, facial expressions, and tongue twisters. These future stars will act out certain characters as they learn how to interact with one another in a short commercial or script designed for two people. At the end students will use the auditioning techniques learned in a mock audition TV commercial. LEGO Mindstorms Robotics: Beginning - Ages 9-12
This fun and educational class will introduce 4th-6th graders to the NXT LEGO® programmable robot. This fun and engaging class will allow students to build various robots and learn to program to create various desired behaviors. Each student will work individually with a Mindstorms kit.

LEGO Mindstorms: Intermediate - Ages 9-12
Prerequisite: Taken the prior class or experience working with Lego NXT robots and the NXT-G programming language. This is a continuation of the Introduction class. Students will develop more complex robots that also use sensors. The course will end with a creative challenge for the newly gained programming skills.

LEGO Mindstorms Challenges - Ages 12-18
This is a serious learning experience combining hands-on LEGO® construction, programming techniques, and a final, fun challenge requiring a stretch of creativity. Each student will work at his/her own pace to build and program two to three robots from instructions, then build a customized robot for the creative challenge.

VEX Robotics: Beginning - Ages 13-18
Students will learn to build and program robots to perform simple tasks using the Vex Robotics system (used in many high school-level competitions), with emphasis placed on basic mechanics and engineering principles. This course is designed for students without previous robotics or programming experience, though prior experience is beneficial. The instructor has been involved with competitive robotics since 2003.

VEX Robotics: Intermediate/Advanced Ages 13-18
Prerequisite: Vex Beginning or Taster Course, or prior experience. More advanced topics using the Vex Robotics system will be introduced, including alternative drive trains, grippers, and lifts. Programming concepts include sensor use, looping and conditionals, and user functions. Students who previously took the Intermediate Course will find new material this year.

Get Twisted! Ages 10-15
Learn balloon sculpting basics and be the life of the party. Create balloon animals, crazy hats, a sword or wand plus learn important twisting tricks. I ROCK Junior Lapidary Club - Ages 9-14
Kids will have fun exploring earth science by learning more about rocks and minerals. Come be a part of this on-going club of lapidary exploration and discover local stones, the state stone - serpentine, agate, fossil stones, jasper, dinosaur bones and more. Students will learn polishing, grinding and trim techniques to complete 5 unique stones to be set in various mountings. These are sure to make great gifts. All project material will be donated by the Mother Lode Mineral Society. Bring a pair of kid’s safety glasses and a craft apron to every class. Acting on Camera - Star in a TV Commercial - Ages 12-17
Create and audition in a class TV commercial with you as the star! Kids will produce solo and duet scripts for an in-class commercial and TV acting segment. Instructor will cover improvisation, cold read of scripts as well as what a monologue is and how to perform one. Each student will write a sample resume and practice auditioning techniques that help build confident to speak in public and show just how important it is to make a good first impression. You might want to start making room on you book case for all of those potential theater awards now!

Introduction to Computer Game Design for Teens - Ages 13-18
Want to design a computer game, but don’t know where to begin? Learn how to use free software to design simple, but exciting, computer games without having to write a single line of computer code. Using easy to learn drag-and-drop actions, you will learn how to create professional looking games with backgrounds, animated graphics, music and sound effects. This is a hands-on class. Scrabble Tile Fun - Ages 8 & up
This is without a doubt a workshop for the entire family. Create a pendant, magnets, puzzle or gifts using recycled scrabble tiles, the new upcycling technique. So whether you are a scrabble enthusiast that wants to WEAR YOUR WORDS or someone wanting to swap and trade charms you and your family will have a day of fun and a project you can wear home. Bring your own pictures, paper or print out a favorite phrase or words from the dictionary even your favorite band, movie or insignia. Jump on the Hogwarts Express and take a magical ride into one of the most loved book series of all times. We will be going on a journey through the world of Harry Potter reading bits and pieces of the stories and finding our own magic within. MJC Project Runway - Ages 8-12
Come express your fashion creativity with this fun and artistic class. Learn how to sketch your own designs and turn old outfits from paper designs to runway ready. You will create your own runway looks incorporating styling and construction rules which are essential to any budding fashion designer. You will modify plain t-shirts to make a fashion statement. We will have our own fashion show on the last day of class. Bring one white t-shirt and one colored t-shirt to redesign. $10 material fee paid to instructor.

Mosaics for Fun - Ages 8-12
