In the Kitchen

The Cat in the Hat in the Kitchen
Using recipes inspired by Dr. Seuss's famous children's books, you will learn that cooking can be fun and creative. Hands-on recipes, crafts and songs will be sure to make this class fun filled and silly. $20 material fee (Kids will not need to bring A morning snack this week - they will be making their own snacks!)

Creative Cupcake Decorating
Ready to have a great time? Cupcake decorating is the perfect class for children to get their hands dirty without getting into any trouble. We will be designing a cupcake during each class for children to take home or eat there. Children will get the chance to learn basic decorating techniques as well as learn how to use food coloring to dye frosting and even make their first flower. Many holiday's will be explored in this class and students will get a chance to design-themed cupcakes. No need to bring anything to class just your imagination. $15 material fee.

Weird Science - Wacky Food

Summer Delicious
Let's make some "cool" summer foods - each day will be something different! Like Refreshing summer breakfast, picnic foods, taco salad fiesta, fruit pizza & cookie pizza & of course, pizza for lunch. We will end the week with grilled sandwiches and delicious cupcakes! $30 material fee. You do not need to bring lunch this week - we will make enough to enjoy for lunch!

Creative Cake Decorating
Let's have fun and be creative! Learn basic cake decorating techniques like making borders, flowers, and icing a cake. We will also be making spider cupcakes as well as other fun holiday treats. You must bring a cake to decorate on the last day of class to enter our "in-class" cake decorating contest. All other materials will be provided by instructor. $15 material fee.

Great Beginnings - Breakfast & Brunch
You, the cook, can make breakfast fun and full of surprises. And for those late risers, brunch - a midday combination of breakfast and lunch - is a hearty start to the day! This hands-on class will introduce the student to new ways of preparing the basic breakfast foods and provide an opportunity to learn to make some new "favorites" you will want to make again and again. $30 material fee. You do not need to bring lunch this week - we will make enough for our lunch/brunch!

Foods Your Friends Will Love! / Etiquette Skills for Friendships
What's more fun in the summer than planning activities with friends, especially when they include food! This week we will focus on foods to make with and for your friends: hearty snacks & appetizers, a picnic lunch for a busy day, a buffet for a party or sleep over, foods when friends join your family for a meal, as well as a special meal for entertaining. In addition to the fun cooking, basic etiquette skills and table manners will be taught - learn to be an admired "Host with the Most" and impressive "Guest with the Best" etiquette skills! $30 material fee. You do not need to bring lunch this week - we will make enough for our lunch!

Dance for All

MJC High School Musical - Dance Moves
You will be rocking your own school's halls like your favorite high school musical star. Learn dance steps to your favorite High School Musical songs. We will customize a bag and t-shirt with colorful fabrics, sequins, ribbon, paints and more. You will be sure to stand out when you go back to school this year. Family and friends will be invited for a little show on Friday. Wear jazz or soft-soled shoes. $8 material fee. Bring a plain, colored t-shirt to decorate.

Into the Jungle - Dance and Costume Ensemble
Take a journey into the jungle, where we will dance to fun tribal music just "like" your favorite animals. We will transform into our favorite jungle friends by creating our own fun and creative animal costumes, sure to bring out our animal instincts. Family & friends will be invited "Into the Jungle" for a little show on Friday. $10 material fee plus bring a brown, black or white t-shirt to decorate as part of your costume.

Rock the Stage Like Hannah

So You Think You Can Dance? Jazz & Tap Camp
If you want to learn the basics of Jazz and Tap dance and have some fun, this is the perfect place to start. Jazz & Tap are all about balance, flexibility and rhythm. We will learn stretches and conditioning warm ups followed by jazz and tap steps with combinations across the floor. We will do exercises to improve timing, rhythm and balance. Finally we will put together choreography with our new steps and combinations! Students must bring tap shoes and jazz or any soft soled shoes. $5 material fee plus bring a plain colored t-shirt to decorate.

Princess of "Quite A Lot" Ballet and Costume Ensemble
Come transform into a princess - we will learn beginning ballet steps and dances that are sure to captivate any prince charming. We will design and create our own princess costumes. We will show off our dance and costume on Friday for family and friends. $10 material fee. Music Galaxy - The Most Fun Music class You'll Ever Take!
Worried about music cutbacks in school? In one week this fun, interactive course will teach your kids music skills that would take 30 weeks to learn in school. Learn how to read and write music, play rhythms and dynamics, practice ear training and performance techniques, make sound effects, be the conductor, make your own instruments, learn to play in a chime choir, sing songs, conquer stage fright, and play in a drum circle! Science oddities like time travel and black holes are also explored. $10 material fee.

Click! Photography Camp
Explore the world through a camera lens. This camp will focus on how to compose and create great photographs using your digital camera. We will go "on location" on campus for photo shoots, then we will view and discuss our images in class. Be sure to bring your digital camera to every session, please make sure you have a clear memory card to shoot with. $5 material fee.

Beginning Balloon Sculpting & Entertainment
Learn how to make balloon animals, flowers, vehicles, people and many other creations - you will learn the basics of balloon sculpting! You can take your new skills and entertain at birthday parties, weddings and many other events! Eventually you can even start your own balloon business! $20 material fee for hand pump and 250 balloons.

Story Book Magic - Reading Rocks!

Chess Camp
This class is for young players of any ability. Even if you don't know your Bishop from your Pawn, this class is for you. You will learn basic piece movement, checkmate strategies, and standard opening ideas. Students will be grouped by ability and participate in both competitive and casual chess. $30 material fee. On the last day, all students will receive a regulation chess set, board, and tote bag.

Manners to Live By!

Totally Cool! Manners Rule!
By learning how "Cool" it is to practice manners, children will be ready for life situations they will encounter. Prizes, games, crafts, music and interactive role play activities will be used as fun learning tools. On the last day we will see what we have learned by participating in a Quiz Show on manners for home, school, public (including table etiquette, and sportsmanship) to win a prize. $5 material fee.

Pirates of Politeness
This fun camp is designed to keep children entertained, inspired and eager to learn and reinforce "mannerly social skills". Interactive humorous instruction, role-playing, problem solving and a variety of activities including games and hands on craft projects will be used to reinforce mannerly skills. Campers will use their creative skills to create a Treasure Island environment, complete with a forest, waterfall, village, quicksand, lagoon, swamp, mountain and a shipwreck on the beach. On the last day the children may come in pirate costume (no swords or weapons). They will have a Treasure Hunt to win a prize by quizzing each other (or their family guests) with manners/etiquette questions at each island location. $5 material fee.

Around the World With Manners
Manners aren't just for special occasions. Children will learn that with manners they let everyone in their life know who they are and that they have been taught how to act in different situations. Children from all over the world use manners and traditional customs to express cultural feelings. The campers will learn that manners empower kids in countries all over the world. They will discover why manners are not for "wimps". Through arts, crafts, role playing skits, games, prizes and a lively, humorous instructor, appropriate behavior in our US society will be taught. $5 material fee.
