Week ONE – June 21-25 - Theme
Star Power Productions
Calling all actors, dancers, musicians and stage hands (no experience necessary)! Become a part of our production company as we explore all aspects of “putting on a show”, we will prepare for our live performance on Friday. Have fun with backstage production, set designs, costumes and rehearsals. Everyone will have a chance to shine as aspiring artists. Family and friends will be invited to our show on the last day of camp. Bring a sack lunch, snacks and drinks. Additional Material Fee - $30

Week TWO – Create Your Own - June 28-July 2

9:30-11:30 a.m. (Week Two) – Choose from:

Breakfast of Champions
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Kids, let’s put on our aprons and make our own breakfast! We will learn how to make ham and cheese omelets, breakfast muffins, crepes, healthy fruit smoothies and lot’s more! Bring an apron to class. Note: because of the varied ingredients used in this class, this would not be a good choice for children with food allergies. ($30)

Creative Painting
Put on your paint smock and get creative with paint! There are many creative, fun ways to paint besides slapping a brush against a blank canvas. You will have fun exploring new ways to paint using different objects. You will create masterpieces that will be displayed in our “Art Gallery”. Family and friends will be invited to our art show on the last day of camp. ($7)

Engineering FUNdamentals
Have your child become a Play Well Engineer! Students take on real-life engineering challenges that explore concepts in physics, architecture, mechanical and structural engineering with over 100,000 pieces of LEGO® material. From racecars to Battletracks, this is a hands-on and minds-on camp suitable for LEGO novices to "maniacs." Designed by engineers, the curriculum challenges both new and returning students to reach the next level of engineering comprehension all while having fun.

12:00-2:00 (Week Two) - Choose from

Rock It Out!
Become a Junior Rockhound! We will have fun exploring earth science by learning cool things about rocks and minerals. We will explore and discover local stones, the state stone – serpentine, agate, fossil stones, jasper, dinosaur bones and more. We will crack geodes and grow crystals. The blooming paleontologist in you will be part of a real fossil dig…find genuine shark teeth, petrified wood, crinoids stems, brachiopods, amethyst, citrine and lots more. Learn what makes a fossil a fossil with this hands on EXCAVATION. Be prepared to get dirty, please wear play clothes and bring a pair of kid’s safety glasses. ($10)

Rakin in the Dough!
This class is all about different types of dough; pizza, pasta, bread, cookies, pie, you name it, we will make it. This class will go through the basics of making each type of dough and come up with a delicious recipe for each one. This will be a great starter to learning how to make dough, and it will be fun, interactive and yummy too! Note: because of the varied ingredients used in this class, this would not be a good choice for children with food allergies. ($30)

Music Galaxy – The Most Fun Music Class You Will Ever Take!!
Come on a musical adventure where we will explore rhythms, dynamics, timbre, pitch and melody in creative and exciting ways. You will learn about reading notes, counting rhythms and practice ear training and performance techniques, make sound effects, be the conductor, make your own instruments, learn to play in a chime choir, play in a drum circle and more. Make music with some usual instruments like bells, boomwhackers and percussive instruments. Performance for parents on the last day of class. (0)

2:30-4:30 (Week Two) - Choose From

Crazy Cupcakes and Cookies
Cupcakes have become so popular these days that there are bakeries that sell ONLY cupcakes.. Join in the popularity as we bake cupcakes and then get the chance to transform them into animals and crazy designs. You’ll get to create your own masterpieces using candies, sprinkles, and other decorations. We’ll also be experimenting with sugar cookie dough, making rolled, dropped and bar cookie –and even making a cookie pizza. Note: because of the varied ingredients used in this class, this would not be a good choice for children with food allergies. ($10)

Chess Camp
Let’s play chess! Everyone is invited beginners to advanced players – even if you don’t know your Bishop from your Pawn, this class is for you! You will learn basic piece movement, checkmate strategies, and standard opening ideas. Students will be grouped by ability and participate in both competitive and casual chess. Let the games begin! Fun, Games and Play for Kids
Okay kids, let’s burn off all that extra energy! Ready to have some fun? This will be a week of fun and games, obstacle courses and fun ways to keep active! Parents, your child will meet new challenges while using different motor skills and stimulate their mind’s as they try to figure out objectives and solutions to the challenges presented. Instructor Jimmy Myers is a Certified Fitness Trainer and he will introduce ways to stay fit while having fun! Please wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes, please bring a water bottle. (0)

Week THREE – July 12-16 - Theme

Science Mania
Junior Scientists Needed! Put on your lab coat and transform into a junior scientist. You will work alongside our Professors of Slimeology, Weird and Wacky Foods, Myth Busters and Crazy Chemistry as you observe and demonstrate myth defining experiments, whip up weird and wacky food, create slippery slime, explore some CSI forensics and practice some crazy chemistry experiments. We will end the action packed week with a Science Fair for family and friends! ($36)

Week FOUR - July 19-23 - Create Your Own

Take the Stage- Intro to Performance
Come explore the art of acting and performance! We will learn improvisational skills, body language, skit work and more! We will create props, work on creating mini skits, and put together a show to share on the last day of camp! ($5)

Slime-tastic, Candy-rific, Blast-o-ramic Fun!
Crank up the fun meter as you fill your days with some eewy, gooey, oozing, bouncing, messy, hands-on science experiences! We will have a wild and wacky time experimenting with candy, balloons, vegetables, pee-wee parachutes, mini boats, slime (of course) and lots more! ($8)

A Culinary Adventure for Kids
Let’s put on our aprons and get ready to cook, chop, slice and eat! This camp will offer a true culinary adventure and widen your food experience horizons! We will prepare a new and varied menu each day including potato gnocchi, chicken tacos, homemade tortilla chips, berry cobbler and lots more. Note: because of the varied ingredients used in this class, this would not be a good choice for children with food allergies. ($30)

12:00-2:00 (Week Four) - Choose from

Art Sparks: Drawing and Painting
Come explore the wonderful world of drawing and painting! You will learn how to “see like an artist”. As we explore various drawing and painting methods we will also learn about perspective, mixing colors, composition and more! Students will create projects that will be featured at our Art Show on the last day of camp. Comp free your inner artist! ($7)

Junkyard Challenge
Because engineering is always a team effort, this camp teaches students how to work collaboratively to design and build the fastest, strongest, most maneuverable, coolest machines and structures possible to solve real world engineering challenges. In this advanced camp, success comes from creative thinking and resourceful use of “The Junkyard” – home to more than 100,000 LEGO pieces! Students will build elevators, bulldozers, conveyor belts, and other motorized and alternatively powered contraptions to complete this challenging course.

Taiko - Power Drumming
Taiko means BIG DRUM! This is an ancient method of communication and making music. Come join us and be part of the fun of learning something new! We will end the week with a performance for family and friends! This will be an exciting, high energy camp! Drums will be provided for use in class. Please wear comfortable clothes and no sandals or flip flops. (0)

MJC Iron Chef Competition
Do you like a good, healthy competition? Forget about sports! Try your hand at beating your opponent in a cooking competition! “Enter” our first-ever MJC Iron Chef Competition class! Young chefs will be competing in teams, and each will be given a recipe to work from and a "secret" ingredient at the last minute that they must incorporate into their dish. It will be lots of fun! Be sure to sign up early as these classes are in high demand and fill up quickly! May the best chef win! Note: because of the varied ingredients used in this class, this would not be a good choice for children with food allergies. ($30)

Crud-E-Creations and Junk-tiques: Recycled Art!
Do you know that you can turn every day recyclables into fantastic new items? Come have a blast creating cool, decorative, useful things using styles, designs and patterns from all over the world! You will make yarn bugs, personalized totem poles, 3-D mobiles, paper mache pets, frame-worthy fabric art and so much more. We will have an art show an the last day of camp, where you will be proud to display your funky, amazing, “trash”terpieces (masterpieces)!! ($5)
