ONLINE CLASS - Pleasures of Poetry
If you want to write poetry, this course will help you create your best possible work, whether you’re looking to be published or simply wish to craft a beautiful poem as a gift for a friend. Spanish for Health Care Providers

Portraits and Headshots
This class is for those who want to learn how to pose their subject, use proper lighting for flattering portraits–color and B&W. We will use advanced digital point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras. Learn to make a simple studio using common household items. We will meet downtown to practice natural light and nighttime shooting using the basics learned in class. Students will e-mail images to instructor for editing and prep for critique. This class requires basic photography knowledge as well as basic computer skills (not for beginners). Make sure to bring your camera and a clear memory card to every class. Optional: Bring your laptop and a tripod if you have one!

On Location Photography - Columbia
We will help you get excited about taking pictures on vacation. Learn how to work outdoors in the sunlight and use the tools your location has to make the most of your memories. Basic photo skills are necessary. You will shoot 150-200 images to take home and refine down to the top ten. Information letter to discuss the class format, a location map and instructions about what they need to bring and how to prepare for class.
Saturday, June 19, 8-11 a.m. will be at Columbia State Park (map on website). Thursday, June 24, 7-9 p.m. - West Campus, Sierra Hall, Room 129 (for class discussion/critique). Digital Photography Level I
This class is for the beginning digital photographer who has been using their camera but find it’s still a source of frustration. This class is also helpful for those trying to decide which digital camera to buy. We will ‘demystify digital’ through the explanation and demonstration of the Icons, Controls and Menus on the digital camera. We’ll cover how to get a Portrait, Landscape or Macro shot or shoot a movie and the importance of Scene Modes. Also, how to get beautiful prints or create an efficient email. We’ll discuss the ease in using local or online services to print your photos or create photo books.
It is advisable to wait and take Digital Photography Level II at a later date. Bring your camera. $7 material fee paid to instructor for workbook.

Join a published children’s author and discover how you can touch the hearts of children by creating books for them. In this highly interactive, hands-on course, you’ll take pen to paper and begin work on your first fiction or nonfiction manuscript. In the process, you’ll explore the changing world of children’s literature and understand the various formats–from baby’s first books to novels for young adults. Finding Your Roots Online
That s right, with all of the advances in technology and the internet, you can do almost all of your genealogy research completely online. Let Evalyn show you the sites that many professional genealogists use to do research. Some sites have fees, some are free, but all are available to you if you sign up for them. Records that used to take weeks to get back, now are available with a click of the mouse! This hands-on class will get you excited about researching your family history online. You will be surprised at how much information is available right from the start! Bring to class as much information that you have on your ancestors - full names (or whatever you know), date of birth, birthplace, marriage dates and location, parent s names.
This class will be held in a computer lab where each student will use a computer.

When Bad Stuff Happens to Good People
Understanding the impact of trauma on yourself or a loved one. Sometimes bad stuff happens, car accidents, burglaries, accidents, shootings, sexual assault, the list goes on and on. Whether something like this happened to you or to someone you care about the aftereffects of trauma can be confusing, stressful, and long-lasting. People can feel (and look) like they are going crazy. This workshop will give you some insight into why someone feels and acts the way they do after a trauma. Understanding can be the first key to healing. Miranda Palmer, LMFT a licensed therapist and trauma specialist, will discuss options for self-help, professional help, and low-cost community options. The Art of Henna Tattooing
Body art, a fun way to have a temporary tattoo! Henna on the body is an ancient tradition used to adorn skin for centuries. This technique was traditionally used for social and in religious celebrations such as weddings. In this class you will explore the many countries that use Henna art. Tattoo artist Neeta Sharma will show you elements of design and how to properly mix and create the paste used to produce henna tattoos. Dog Gone Good

Obedience Training is one of the best things you can do for your dog or puppy . . . and yourself. Dogs are social animals and without proper training they will misbehave.
