Watercolor Workshop - Painting on Yupo Paper
Experience the distinctive qualities of painting with watercolor on Yupo. Yupo is a synthetic paper that offers a unique working surface, much different than traditional watercolor paper. Your colors will remain bright and vibrant on this paper and your paint can be lifted and pushed easily. Join us and learn a distinctive new mode of painting.
If you do not have your own watercolor supplies, you will pay $10.00 to the instructor. The supplies will include 11 x 14 Yupo paper, pigments in a small palette, brushes and a water container, OR bring your regular watercolor supplies and purchase 11 x 14 Yupo paper for $1.00 per sheet. We will paint on a flat surface and will need a backing board (12 x 18) to attach and support the paper.

Watercolor Workshop - Reflections, Water and Skies
You will enjoy this sampler approach to learn how to paint reflections, bodies of water and skies. The instructor demonstrates all the techniques. All levels are welcome. This class meets outdoors with a minimum of walking.
If you don't have your own watercolor supplies, there will be a $10 material fee paid to the instructor which will include paper, pigments in a small palette, brushes and water container - OR - You may wish to bring your own regular watercolor supplies and you can purchase Arches 140 cold press paper (10 x 14) for $1.00 per sheet. Bring your easel or a backing board (14 x 18), a TV tray and a campstool. An umbrella and hat are important. If you wish, bring a brown bag lunch and we can discuss our paintings at the end of our painting session.

Getting Started with Acrylics
Acrylics have the versatility of no other medium. Diluted acrylics are transparent and can work like watercolors. Applied thickly they resemble oils, but are easily cleaned up with water. Colors are exuberant; mistakes can be hidden. We will go over different techniques and cover tools, surfaces, and brushes used in this very creative medium. All levels of painters welcome.

Outrageous Origami - Ages 12 and up with a Parent
For those who love to origami take it to the next level when you incorporate Chinese calligraphy to this paper folding technique. Come make new and exciting stuff when you learn how to use cool material to embellish and transform it into a work of art.

Adventures in Drawing
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned hobbyist, this class offers you the fundamental techniques and tools used in the creative artistic process. Learn various exercises to build up your eye-brain-hand connection. Graphite, ink and charcoal will be the drawing tools, along with several kinds of paper. Basic artistic concepts for improving line quality, creating depth, developing a focal point and using a value scale in drawing will also be investigated. Historical and present examples of artists will be studied, and students will be given the opportunity to develop their own drawing styles. Be pleasantly surprised at how much your drawing will improve in one session!

Mosaic Tile Art: Medallions & Mirror Frames
Show off your hidden talent to family and friends as you create a one-of-a-kind art piece. Make an interior or exterior mirror frame or medallion centerpiece for your bistro table or your patio wall. For the mirror frame project, bring an 18” to 24” (flat stock) picture/mirror frame. You will purchase your own mirror (or use one you already have) and install it later. For the medallion bring an 18” to 24” pre-cut round or square plywood. Remember, you are making the medallion only, no stand/legs for a table are included. Table top must be flat, no rounded edges and made of wood - not plastic. Also, bring design ideas, tile biters, and safety glasses.

The “Tree” is a popular design for both wire workers and those who love artisan jewelry. The concept of a tree of life illustrates the idea that all life on earth is related and is a notion used in science, religion, philosophy, and mythology. Using wire or recycled sterling silver, natural gemstones or glass chips make a tree to wear home. Create a tree that represents the four seasons, your children’s birth or a design of your own.

Lapidary
Learn how to turn stones into beautiful pieces for decor, or gems for mounting into custom jewelry. This class teaches basic to advanced lapidary skills including cutting, grinding, faceting and polishing of ornamental, semiprecious and precious stones. You will learn how to recognize, find and develop your gem materials and make beautiful pieces of art. The supplies needed will vary depending upon the projects and materials you select.
A material fee of $7.00 payable to instructor at the first class.
Students must wear prescription or safety glasses to class and a waterproof apron is recommended.

Discover Pyrographic Art
Pyrography, meaning “to write with fire” is a versatile art form that dates back to the Victorian age and practiced by a number of cultures including the Egyptians and some African tribes and is a traditional folk art in may South American and European countries. Instructor Bernadette will teach you how to use this wood burning technique to create your one of a kind art work on wood.

1. Wood Burning Kit approx. $18-25. Make sure the kit includes at least a chisel tip, point tip and a slanted tip.
2. Pliers
3. Pencil with eraser

5. Pattern ideas such as your fvorite flower, a corss, name, phrase, symbol. Instructor will have more patterns for you to choose from.

Jewelry and Metalcraft
Learn how to earn some extra money or make beautiful gifts for someone special. Learn fine-jewelry techniques to construct custom jewelry from copper, bronze, sterling silver and gold. Beginners to advanced learn and practice skills in fabrication, wax carving, introduction to casting, and stone setting. Beginning levels are project oriented with completed jewelry items. The supplies needed vary depending upon the projects and materials you select. Note: No class on May 31, class will be held on June 1 instead.
Beginning project material fee is $7.00 payable to instructor at the first class for the first time students. Students must bring safety glasses if they do not wear prescription glasses.

Dichroic Glass Art
Create your very own handcrafted art glass jewelry pieces. Design, cut, tack and stack various layers of Dichroic Art glass and small frit pieces onto a solid glass base for a three-dimensional sculptural effect. The term dichroic is used because dichroic glass appears to be one color at one angle and another color at a different angle. Project: earrings and pendent. $

From Shoebox to Album
Make this the summer you create that long overdue memory album! Assemble two beautiful mini scrapbooks, using an all inclusive scrapbook kit. Make one for yourself and the other as a gift. This class is perfect for the beginner or the more advanced scrap booker. It will be easy and fun; you’ll be walked through each step. Feel free to bring your photos if you would like to complete the album in its entirety (photos are optional). Albums and cards will vary according to theme and or season.
