Song Writing (Ages 16+) - #1757
Have you every dreamed of being able to write your own song? Paul Espinoza has been writing songs for nearly 40 years. Basic techniques will be covered and you will be encouraged to pursue the song writing style of your choice. You may bring along any completed or partial songs or poetry, or just bring along your ideas and enthusiasm. You will be pleasantly surprised as your song develops right before your eyes. Breathing is our foundation when playing the harmonica. We will take the simplest of pop, folk and blues melodies and invigorate them with simple, but powerful, techniques to make any song deeply expressive. Learn to Play Music by Ear - #0577
You don’t have to be born with a special gift in order to play music by ear. If you can figure out the melody to "Mary Had a Little Lamb," you’re ready to take this class. Figuring out the melody is the easy part. The secret to playing music by ear is knowing what chords go along with it. You will learn how to use bass lines, how to hear and know correct chord changes, how to transpose, and how to use the Circle of Fourths and Fifths. You will be able to play any song by ear, from simple folk tunes to difficult standards. Open to all musicians. You should have a basic knowledge of chords. If you don’t, take the "Piano Instantly" class first. $27 materials fee for study book and CD paid at class.
