How we rate our trips:
You have asked for an indication as to how much walking each trip will entail. We have rated our trips with the following symbols:
Minimum walking required. You may need to walk to the theater, or your seats at the ballpark. There may be free time for trip participants, but you do not have to walk - you can find a place to sit and rest if need be.
The trips that are rated as a "2" will require a large amount of walking, usually either in the a.m. or the p.m.
The trips that we have rated "3" will involve walking all day.
Nob Hill Historical Walking Tour and Lunch– San Francisco - #1506 ![]()
This two hour easy walking guided tour of fashionable Nob Hill brings San Francisco history, architecture and scandals to life. Learn the secrets of Bonanza Kings and Railroad Barons. See vistas, mansions, fountains, ballrooms, churches, parks and historical buildings. View rare Railroad Baron memorabilia and Chinatown photos. After the tour, lunch has been changed from the Big 4 Restaurant at the Huntington Hotel to the famous Top of The Mark on the 19th floor of the Mark Hopkins Hotel. The legendary sky bar lays the city at your feet with near-360 degree vistas that take in the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz Island. Following lunch you will be given approximately two hours of free time to shop or browse at Union Square. Fee includes walking tour, lunch at the Top Of The Mark, and transportation.

Leland Stanford Mansion – Old Town Sacramento - #1547 ![]()
Enjoy a guided tour of the beautifully restored Leland Stanford Mansion. Originally built in 1857 this 19,000 sq. ft. masterpiece is the State’s official reception center and a public museum. This California state park welcomes leaders from around the world. You’ll be given free time to explore the Visitor Center and grounds before heading to Old Town Sacramento for a no-host lunch and free time. Fee includes guided tour of the Stanford Mansion and transportation.

Fleet Week and Hornblower Cruise San Francisco - #1690 ![]()

Enjoy free time at Ghiradelli Square before the bus departs to Pier 3 to board the Hornblower Blue Angel cruise. From the observation decks you will get the best views of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps flight team, the Blue Angels, as they perform their precision maneuvers. Before the show enjoy a delicious lunch buffet and beverages. Fee includes Hornblower Blue Angel cruise, buffet lunch, and transportation. Half Moon Bay: Where Pumpkin is King - #1691 ![]()
What better place to celebrate the bountiful fall harvest than to head to the Pumpkin Capital of the World for the 38th Annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival. Enjoy the family friendly-festival with old-fashioned pumpkin carving and pie eating contests as well as music on three stages. Bustling booths along Main Street serve everything from pumpkin pie to pumpkin fudge as well as sandwiches, grilled Portuguese Linguisa sausage, etc. In addition, there is over 250 artists and craftspeople displaying their creative and one-of-a-kind creations. Due to crowded streets and limited parking a great deal of walking is necessary for drop off and pick up. Fee includes transportation only.

3-Hour Petaluma River Cruise – Downtown Petaluma - #1692 ![]()

Sail this historic waterway from the turning basin in downtown Petaluma to the mouth of the river in San Pablo Bay. Learn about the history and importance of the river to the town of Petaluma and the surrounding countryside, and why it is still important today. Look around you (especially if you bring binoculars) to see the bird and wildlife that inhabits this special region as we cruise downriver and the return journey. San Francisco Christmas Shopping Trip - #7381 ![]()
Community Education is continuing its annual tradition of "It’s Christmas time in the City". Make your list and bring your family and friends to shop and enjoy the day in downtown San Francisco among the beautifully decorated stores. Not to be missed is Macy’s Christmas Tree in Union Square that stands at least 80 feet tall. Sign up early since this is one of the most popular trips of the year and the buses fill up so quickly. Fee includes transportation only.

Phantom of the Opera - Orpheum Theatre San Francisco ![]()
This trip would make the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone on your list! Phantom returns for a brief time to San Francisco to take your breath away with some of the most lavish sets, costumes and special effects ever to have been created for the stage. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince traces the tragic love story of a beautiful opera singer and a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Paris Opera House. Adapted from Gaston Leroux’s classic novel of mystery and suspense, this award-winning musical has woven its magical spell over standing room audiences in more than 100 cities worldwide and is now the longest-running show in Broadway history. You will be dropped off and given free time at Union Square for a no-host lunch and shopping before being picked up and dropped off at the Orpheum Theatre.
