Coaching Staff

grossCoach Ron Gross enters his 8th year at Modesto Junior College as the Head Men's Golf Coach. Ron has had 10 players earn Big 8 All-Conference honors, 1 All-State player and a California State Championship runner-up. on has also sent over 20 players on to 4-year Universities including such notable schools as Texas Tech., University of the Pacific, UNLV, UC Davis, San Francisco State, and CSU Stanislaus. Also, his 2010 & 2011 golf teams won the prestigious CCCAA Team Scholar Award.

"I feel as a coach, the performance, execution, character, and motivation of my team is my responsibility, The quality of these defined areas is a reflection of who I am, what I teach, and what I believe. Being a coach with this defined style, I am continually looking for ways to improve my program, I look for feedback from my players through their performance on the field, their execution of the skills that are taught, their display of character on the course and in the classroom, and their enthusiasm toward their responsibilities on and off the course."

Ron excelled in four sports at Colusa High School before becoming a two sport athlete at Yuba College. He then transferred to CSU-Chico where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. Ron also earned a Master's Degree in Sports Management from American University.

Ron has coached golf, football, basketball and girls softball at different levels of high school and college during his coaching career. Besides his coaching duties, Ron is also an instructor at MJC. Ron lives in Modesto with his wife Amy, and children Katelyn, Brock, and Blake.
