Health Clearance Criteria
Health Clearance Criteria for A.D.N. Students
No student will be permitted in the clinical setting without complete, accurate documentation of health and immunization status by due dates. Required criteria:
- Completion of the Health History Form and Physical with physician signature.
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine series (2 injections), or antibody titers indicating immunity to Rubeola and Rubella (both titers must be documented).
- Tetanus immunization within the last 10 years at time of program admission.
- Varicella vaccine series (2 injections), or documentation of positive varicella titer.
- Two-step PPD (tuberculin skin test) taken within six months of admission to the A.D.N. Program; repeat PPD (not 2-step) repeated annually while in the program.
- If PPD is positive or contraindicated, a chest X-ray report documenting the absence of evidence of active TB; CXR report must be current and on file in Health Services and in Allied Health.
- A PPD test can be applied before or on the same day that MMR/Varicella vaccine is given. If MMR/Varicella is given earlier, the PPD must be delayed at least one month due to the possibility of a false negative reaction.
- Hepatitis B vaccine series initiated upon acceptance into the A.D.N. Program, or documentation of Hepatitis B vaccine series or antibody titer indicating immunity.
- Clearances are granted by the College Health Nurse. PPD and immunizations (except for Hep B and Varicella) are available through Health Services.
