High School Students

 

 ADVANCED ADMISSION FOR ELIGIBLE JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Junior high and high school students, who meet the following eligibility requirements, may enroll in Modesto Junior College credit classes, numbered 50 and higher.  To determine eligiblity, students must complete the MJC Application for Admission, the Advanced Admission Petition, the Board of Governors Fee Grant Waiver Application, and the Health Consent form which are available in their junior high or high school counselors' offices, in the MJC Admissions Office, or at http://www.mjc.edu.  Junior high school students must also have a letter of recommendation from their school's principal.

High school students:  To be eligible to enroll in MJC courses, students must be at least 14 years old as of the first day of the semester, and the high school principal must certify that the student is prepared to undertake advanced scholastic or vocational coursework.  High school students must enroll in courses recommended by their principal.

Junior high school students:  To be eligible to enroll in MJC courses, students must be at least 14 years old as of the first day of the semester and must demonstrate an English 101 ability level on the MJC English Assessment Test.  Junior high school students must also have a letter of recommendation from their principal and must enroll in courses recommended by their principal. 

Junior high school students must submit their Admissions packet to the Admissions Office prior to testing.

Home school students:  To be eligible, all home school students must meet the above requirements for high school and/or junior high school students and must include with their admissions packet a Certification Letter (Private School Affidavit) from their County Schools Office or the State of California.

Junior high and high school students can only enroll in associate degree applicable courses (credit courses numbered 50-399) and in a maximum of 11 units.  Enrollment in more than 11 units requires approval by the 7th-12th grade school's governing board of trustees and by the MJC President. 

Students must satisfy all course prerequisites prior to enrollment. 

In order to be approved for a subsequent semester, students must maintain a minimum MJC grade point average of 2.0 and be in good academic standing at MJC.

 

 Fees:   For students who do not qualify for a Board of Governors Fee Waiver, the college will waive the enrollment fee for up to 11 units.  Students are responsible to pay all other related fees, including out-of-state tuition, if applicable.  Students who wish to enroll in more than 11 units and are approved by their Board of Trustees and by the MJC President will be responsible for their own enrollment fees.
